Regatta - July 5, 2008
YYC is also
hosting our annual Jr. Sailing Alumni Regatta on the 5th. We
plan for a really fun, united event for both groups.
The Alumni event has a history of excellent turnout were the
young and young at heart compete in the Club's Nutshells and
420s. A cookout follows with low-key music provided by
former YYC Junior Sailors singing Jimmy Buffet tunes. Yes,
blacken franks will be available! The on-the-water racing
will not impact either program with separate courses to be
provided.

ORGANIZING
AUTHORITY:

RULES: The Regatta
shall be governed by International Sailing Federation Racing
Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US Sailing and the
rules of the Laser Class, except as any of these are
modified by the Notice of Race, and by the Sailing
Instructions (and any amendments thereto).
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:
The Regatta is open to all Laser and Laser Radials class
boats. Laser class membership is VERY STRONGLY encouraged.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

·Registration -
Registration will be open from 0830-1000 hours, July 5,
2008.

·There will be
opening ceremonies and a competitors meeting @1000 hours

·The first warning
signal will not be made before 1045 hours. Additional
races to follow

·Awards will be
presented as soon as possible following the day's
racing.
REGISTRATION:
There is no advance registration. Entry fee is $25.00
and includes coffee /milk / juice / doughnuts in
the morning, brown bag lunch and bottled water served on the
water and hotdogs / burgers / salads / soda and beer after
racing. There is a $7.00 fee for non-competitors that
would like to join us for food / beverages.
COURSES:
Triangular and windward-leeward races will be sailed on the
open waters of Lake Ontario, NE of the mouth of the Niagara
River.
SAILING
INSTRUCTIONS: Will be available at the Youngstown Yacht
Club Regatta Office after 0830 hours on July 5, 2008.
SCORING: The
low-point scoring system, rule A4 shall apply, and is
modified so that each boat's series score will be the total
of her race scores with no scores discarded. Five (5) races
are scheduled, of which one (1) shall be completed to
constitute a series.
PRIZES:
Prizes will be awarded to the skippers placing first,
second, and third overall, the first Junior (16 and under),
and the first Master (35 and older) for the regatta.
